Event: Carrier
Description: Marc Benning earned his name in the underground with 34 Satellite, a band that's still afloat. But after hooking up with a pair of veterans from the Kansas combo Panel Donor -- guitarist Brandon Aikin and drummer Kliph Scurlock, who also keeps time for The Flaming Lips, Benning decided to form another group. Although the band was once stripped down, it now includes keyboardist Adrianne Verhoeven, formerly of The Anniversary and a revolving lineup of bassists, among them Nick Colby from Ultimate Fakebook. Carrier pulls off that type of sound that makes music such a rewarding misery sometimes: shimmering tones, haunting pianos, subtle rhythms, and the cry of a voice alone in the world. Come check them out for their first show in the Shop! Opening act: Keepers of the Carpet

Event: Voodoo Glow Skulls
Description: The last time Voodoo Glow Skulls were here we just couldn’t get enough so we brought them back! Returning with their fifth studio release Symbolic, the Voodoo Glow Skulls are as wry and humorously cynical as they ever were, and the gnarl remains the same. Disregarding corporate rock & roll norms VGS has gone head on with their raw ska-punk hybrid. Symbolic does however offer a little twist in direction. The Voodoo Glow Skulls are confident enough to let things fly where they fly, and brash enough to identify with the honesty and truth backing the original threads of first wave ska-punk. Don’t miss out on an excellent night of ska-punk that sure to rock you! Opening acts: Big D and the Kids Table, Go Betty Go, and The F Ups
